Liberty High School Senior Betas Make an Impact on Younger Generations

Liberty High School

The National Beta club at Liberty High School in Oklahoma has been honored as the Senior Division recipient of the 2024 Hall of Fame Service Award. This prestigious accolade recognizes Beta clubs that have demonstrated exceptional commitment to service through innovative projects benefiting their school, community, and state. Only three recipients are selected each year by a group of National Beta alumni.

The Liberty Senior Beta club’s “BIG Brother/BIG Sister” program, acronym for “Betas Inspiring Generations,” has garnered widespread praise for its impact on both participants and the community. Through this initiative, Senior Betas mentor elementary and junior high students, providing support in various aspects of their lives, from academics to personal development.

Misty McNelley, Sponsor of the Liberty Senior Beta club said, “Our BIG Brother/BIG Sister program has not only fostered academic growth but has also significantly boosted self-confidence, self-esteem, and school pride among participating students.”

Members of the Liberty Senior Beta club volunteered enthusiastically to become mentors, dedicating their time and energy to making a positive difference in younger students’ lives. Whether it was coaching youth sports, hosting camps, providing academic assistance, or being a supportive presence, the Liberty Betas showed exceptional commitment to their roles as mentors. Many Betas spent their lunch breaks checking in while some would even arrive on campus hours in advance to ensure they touched base with their mentees.

“This project exceeded all expectations, thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of our members,” added Misty. “What began as a literacy-focused initiative evolved into a transformative experience for both mentors and mentees. We are immensely proud of the impact our club has had on the future of our community and state.”

The Liberty Senior Beta club’s unwavering dedication to service and innovation has earned them a well-deserved place in the National Beta Hall of Fame. Their commitment to empowering future generations sets a remarkable example for Beta clubs nationwide.

“We applaud Liberty High School for their outstanding contributions to community service,” said Bobby Hart, CEO of National Beta. “Their dedication to fostering mentorship and inspiring positive change exemplifies the spirit of National Beta. We are honored to recognize their exceptional achievements.”
