Board Approves Constitution Updates

During the recent National Beta board meeting held in Savannah this June, updates to the organization’s constitution were approved, marking a new chapter in our organization’s ongoing commitment to excellence and leadership development.

One of the most notable changes includes the introduction of a new pledge for all members. This pledge consolidates the previous Elementary/Junior and Senior Beta Club pledges into a single, unified pledge. Designed to be suitable for all Beta members from 4th through 12th grade, the new pledge retains the essence of Beta’s mission, vision, and pillars while providing modern and age-appropriate updates. The new pledge reads:

“As a proud member of National Beta, I pledge to be honest and truthful, maintain academic excellence, and conduct myself in an ethical manner. I am dedicated to serving others and contributing to the collective success of my peers.”

The new pledge will be updated on all induction materials this month and will be included in all new membership materials this fall.

In addition to the pledge, the board approved a change in the number of official officer positions. The positions have been streamlined to include only President, Vice President, and Secretary, aligning with the structure at both the national and state levels. The roles of Treasurer, Historian, Chaplain, and Reporter have been removed as required positions to allow clubs the freedom to add any additional officer positions that best fit their club’s needs and culture.

The Beta Shop will continue to offer official officer merchandise for President, Vice President, Secretary, and a general Officer. Merchandise for the positions of Treasurer, Historian, Chaplain, and Reporter will be available while supplies last.

These updates reflect National Beta’s dedication to evolving in ways that best support its members and the broader educational community while staying true to the organization’s foundational values.
